When A Glass Door Handle Isn’t Enough

Unlike door knobs used for various doors throughout your house, a glass door handle is subject to lots of wear and tear and need to be removed every 3 – 4 years.   Wear and tear on the handle is not unusual if you have a family that makes frequent use of the yard, the patio and the garden during the warm summer months.  You know it’s time to replace the door glass handle when screws start to fall off and the sliding door isn’t locking as it should.  Hopefully, it’s only the glass door handle that’s faulty.  But suppose you bought a new door glass handle and the door still isn’t locking properly?   It might be time to buy a new sliding door, or just replace the tracking of the sliding door.

When you realize that a door glass handle isn’t enough and that you may have to replace more parts, you may decide to do a full upgrade.  This will undoubtedly cost more than you had hoped to pay but an investment of this type will put your mind at ease when it comes to your home’s security.  This will involve more than just going to your local Home Depot to buy parts for a new door.  You may need to hire a designer get the exact measurements for new sliding glass doors and it may take time for the parts to arrive.  Even if you decide to replace the parts yourself such as the door tracking strip, the strip would have to be cut to the exact measurements which will also involve waiting.
